Does it matter which spark plug wire is connected to the different cylinders? That was a only a joke.I know the firing order (1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2).I just wanted to confirm the cylinder locations. Is the right bank (in the direction of travel) 2-4-6-8 with 2 being the front and the left bank 1-3-5-7?

Well I got a 50/50 chance don't I. The single cam V8s have the #1 cyl on the right front (passenger side). The right side was 1,2,3,4 and the left side 5,6,7,8.

I'm not sure that the later V8s are the same, but, in general I can tell you that the number one cylinder is always the farthest one forward. You can look at the motor and tell which one is futher forward.
