My 300SD is producing more smoke than I would like it to. The engine runs well, so if I can't fix the problem then it's no big deal, but I would like to run some Redline Diesel Catalyst through it to see if it will help. However, my engine has an oil leak somewhere. My tech told me not to worry about it, because the oil consumption is almost nill (about a quart and a half in 3000 miles with leakage). What I need to know is if using this diesel treatment can in some way affect my oil leak(s). I do not want to make it(them?) any worse. This may be a stupid question, but I would rather ask a dumb question now than replace my engine later. Thanks in advance for the input.

The Only Stupid Question Is The One You Didn't Ask!

DFC is a FUEL additive. As such, it does nothing to affect your oil leak. It may help with oil consumption, as it will reduce the amount of smoke (which is mostly diesel fuel oil anyway), clean your valves and compustion chamber, and help your car run better. You can also use 85+ instead, They are identical. Just read the label, and don't overdose the fuel system. It won't hurt your car, but can get expensive @ $4-5 a bottle.

Hey, nice car, I think I got one sorta like it! :D

Hey, nice car! Red Line will help your engine run better. Don't worry about the smoke if your tech says it's O.K. You obviousely take good care of your vehicle. You can look forward to a long relationship with it.
