changing belt tensioner on 98 e320

I have bought a new tensioner and belt and want to replace them, but I don't know the threading pattern to use to attach the belt to the pulleys. Also, there is a large pin sticking out from my new tensioner and I don't know what it is (it looks like a temporary pin, not something permanent..maybe it is supposed to help me align something???) I have never done this before, but I am great at following directions. I have already removed the old belt and tensioner but I need a diagram of how the belt goes around the pulleys and I don't know what to do about the pin sticking out of the new pulley. changing tensioner on 98 e320
Went to ALLDATA.com and took out a subscrition for 25 bucks. Best money I ever spent. Found out the hard way what the pin is in the tensioner for after I cut it off with a dremel tool. Turns out the pin keeps the tensioner from snapping into place so you will have room to put the bolt into the engine block! Anyway, job done, saved a hundred dollars or so doing it myself and learned a little more about my beloved E-class.
