Does anyone have an ignition switch wiring diagram that they can scan and send to me? I have looked through the CD repair manual and cannot seem to find a single diagram that encompasses all the switch wires and where they terminate. My problem is that I had the Aux. fan fuse not blow and caused the harness to overheat/short. All the wires to the ignition switch lost (melted) their insulation as well as the aux fan fuse wires.

My plan is to rewire the ignition switch by running the wires direct to their proper connection points and eliminating (cutting) the originals. This seems to be a better option than completely replacing the interior main wiring harness.

Does anyone know if Mercedes offers a "repair" harness for such a situation?

Perhaps you can simplify you efforts by spending a little time at the recycling yards to procure the section of harness you need. The 124.034/36 diagrams were of the new format and you need to bounce around to several different diagrams to get the exact location of each wire.

You may want to view the 1992 300E diagram and see how close you can get with it, I do not imagine there is much difference with the Ignition Switch. This is not claiming the two model(s) and the two model years are identical, they may close enough for reference ONLY!

Unfortunately, don't have any(?) yards near that have this model. You are right on the wiring diagrams. I have printed out around 25 sheets and have been flipping through them to track down wires/locations. I was hoping that someone might have a consolidated diagram.

After getting into the harness (cutting off the wrapping) I have decieded that the heat of the shorted wires caused more damage to surrounding wire insulation that I am comfortable with trying to seperate/assure that there are no cross continuity problems. While I have figured out where all the ignition switch wires go, and could run direct wire, the other damage has made me deciede to replace the harness. I have a line on a good used harness for a reasonable price.
