Help!!! MY01 E430 Windshield Install Problems

It was cracked so the dealership ordered one for me and they had an independent shop do the installation. First problem is the rain sensor - it doesn't work. The wiper just goes on at regular intervals on dry and wet windshield. Then later today, 65-70 highway cruising and I hear this buzz - like a hair clipper. Seems to be coming from the bottom of the windshield at the driver's side. I have looked at it and don't think it was installed correctly. So, please take a look at your winshields and tell me: At the outside edges where the windshield meets the A-Pillar, there is a rubber seal that runs doew the entire width on both sides. At the bottom of the windshield where it interfaces the firewall/engine compartment, there are two plastic trim pieces - left and right of the wiper center motor. These plastic pieces extend outwards to the A-Pillar area. What I want to know is whether these pieces are tucked under the rubber seal or whether the seal rides over the ends of these plastic trim pieces. Are they the same on both sides?

The tip on my driver's side trim piece is loose compared with the passenger's side, and I believe it's vibrating and buzzing. Also, that rain sensor - does it come attached to the windshield or is it installed later? I thought it came installed on the windshield. Could they have just forgotten to plug it in????

I'm back to the dealer on Monday and I'm not a happy camper. This whole thing started when someone bumped my D'Side rear bumper. All they had to do was replace the broken pieces and paint. When I got the car back last night, there was overspray all over the place - on the trunk lid, the rear glass, the rear driver's side door, the rubber seal on the top of the door, man am I pissed. How could they not have noticed this? Even where there's supposed to be a blend, there is a clear 5inch gap distinguishing old and new paint. What the???? I'm really pissed and I'll let them have it on Monday. I know this the Tech Help forum so forgive me for venting!!!

i dont have

any answers for you but i can offer sympathy. if there is a blend you shouldnt be able to see it. if you can see it then the entire panel should be shot.

i dont know about the details on the windshield trim but a buzzing must indicate an air leak.

good luck. best to hold your temper and just repeat that it is wrong and you want it done right. figure out what you want done and tell them, to make it right.

good luck
