My battery finally dies on my 560SEL Which shall I get.

Battery just died this morning and now Im debating which ones to get. Im thinking of either The Sears Die Hard for European models, Delphi(Use to be called AC/Delco) or Original Mercedes battery. I would go for the Optima but It is just too darn expensive. The Die hard is about $110, the Delphi is about $75-$90 depending where I go and the Original Mercedes battery should be around $110 or so if not then a little more. What shall I get?

i used

to go with sears, but for the last ten years or so i have been using autozone's best. about $70, i think.

optima.

easy starts with it.
i had an undiagnosed failing voltage regulator in my 300E but my car cranked easily and started easily. when it eventually shut down on the freeway, i had it ixed and replaced the battery with a standard battery that struggled to crank the car. i swithced back to optima in no time.

i went to Mercedes and got a quote of $130. I checked the optima out and it will cost me $150 and will have to be ordered. Sears is $110 and went to autozone and they had one which was $70.

I got the autozone one which i think is a great deal and has a free replacement warranty for life

Get the Mercedes battery, I just replaced the Mercedes battery on the 1988 560 SL. Original to the car, 1988. So it has been a good battery. 19 years old. I just bought a new Mercedes battery.

Put me in for another vote for the Mercedes battery. The one for the C class is made by Varta and is an excellent battery with a 100 Amp-hour capacity.

I have used the top end Interstate battery for my 124 E class with great success. Just got my last one for $85 + tax this summer (list is around $120). Interstate has been a US supplier of batteries for Mercedes. With that said, I am also familiar with the Autozone battery. It seems to have the same exterior construction and CCAs as my Interstate, as well as a great warranty. Can't beat it for the price. The Optima is also a great battery but like the O.E. MB battery is a little pricey for me.

Second thumbs up on the Interstate - I've been using them for many, many years and they've always been fantastic batteries.

Interstates are a great battery..the way to go if the pretty white case doesn't matter to you;-) Optima red tops should be readily available for less then 150..I purchased mine off ebay for 130 delivered about a year ago.
