mysterious engine shut off

OK, this is the second time that the 202 has mysteriously shut off while driving. The first time, the car was exiting a ramp off of a highway, and all of the sudden the engine shut off. The car did not start for about 30 minutes (tried to start in 5 minute intervals). 30 minutes later she cranks. After starting the car, she drove fine and everything seemed normal. I wrote the incident off as a fluke.

Fast forward to today. Again, on the highway in traffic and driving about 45 mph, she suddenly shut off. She would not start for about 10 minutes, but then she turns over. Got back on the highway and drove it about 2 miles when she shuts off again. Any ideas why she would do this? What should I check? I'm suspecting the fuel system and not the ignition since she is starting back up after waiting. Is it OK to add a fuel cleaner (STP or the likes) to the fuel system? Any help would be appreciated.

Dave

Not sure on your car, i was having the same issues with my 190e and when i pulled the fuel pump relay I found the solder joints were broken. So I resoldered them.

Behavior was the same, it would stall while driving and then after a while it would start back up. Strange part was that when it was failing the car would stay running for 5-8 seconds but have no acceleration, then would die. I am guessing it was just using up the fuel that was left in the pipes then when it ran out it would stall. Not sure why it takes so long to restart unless when the relay is warm the pins are not touching as they were when it was cold, since the joints were disconnected. But you would think it would have been the opposite since the heat should expand the metal it should have a closer connection, but who knows.

Any way take a look at that relay if its applicable to your vehicle.
