There is a possibility this was caused by O2 sensor wire, short to ground.( Drive shaft area)
Will kill the fuel pump relay on most MB models.

.BTW.........Is the car running now ?

Car is not running at all. It turns over fine, but no start.

This is a good time to have a fire extinquisher handy.

Make sure ignition key(s) is/are removed from ignition lock and place it on roof.

Pour about 1/4 cup of fuel down intake.
Replace the air filter ! This is most important.

Retrieve key(s).

Crank engine....engine must start briefly if ignition and cam timing correct.

If yes, fuel system problem.

Most like OVPR.
