Shift Linkage

I have restored a 61 190db and ready to hit the road, but don't know how to set up the shift linkage. I have reverse and neutral, but hours of playing around with it have produced no results. Anybody know a simple method for initializing shift linkages?

If it's 4-speed manual, I can help.

it shouldnt be too hard

take you levers on the tranny and analyze what each does. then move the shifter and analyse what moves when you move the levers to the places that call up a gear such as first. then put the levers together in the positions that go together. you should be able to easily tell by the turning of the out put shaft what gears are what.

i have done this before, and it is not hard.
