I'm going to try to install a keyless entry in my wife's 88 TE wagon this weekend. She has MS and turning that key is beyond her strength. I've read the instructions found in Keyless entry for your 124 made easy (last thread 1/21), but I would appreciate knowing where on the TE will I find the wiring harness for the vacuum pump.
Another mod I intend to install is a push button to engage the starter, rather than having her have to turn the ignition key to engage it. I had one installed on her Buick, and it was of great help to her. Further, I'm also going to modify the power steering pump to have it put out a bit more of "help".
We, of normal strength, just don't realize how difficult very simple jobs are and how easy it is to modify things to make life easier for the handicapped. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

You can purchase a auto-starting kit from Radio-shack that will work with the relays and lock and unlock the doors as well as starting the engine. All she would have to do is turn the key to the 2 position and not all the way to crank.

The power steering will have to be adjusted inside the sector. I have done this before and it is not a Do-it-yourself repair. You will have to remove the power steering sector and disassemble it. Next you will have to take out the metering valve and the springs. To lighten the wheel, just shorten the springs BY A LITTLE BIT. After this you will have to reassemble the sector and set up the proper clearances. This is not easy. I have some specail tools for this.

A tech/shop may charge you about 5-600 dollars to do this, but that would include a set of o-rings to reseal the sector as well.
