Vibration at high speeds when Braking...SOLVED

Well for quite a while my 190e 2.6 would vibrate quite a bit when even the slightest bit of brake pressure was applied. So I took off the right wheel and turned the rotor, I could clearly see the rotor wobble instead of spinning straight. Got a pair of 2 new rotors, adjusted the wheel bearing play and problems' gone!

Thought I'd share.

Yes that is the typical fix for the problem.

If you use tire dressing, make sure you cover the wheel when using it. It is very common for the dressing to reach the rotor assymetrically which due to different friction on different areas of the rotor, will lead to rotor warping.

Good luck,

Don't forget to check the rear pads. MB brakes stop so well when new that ineffective rear braking may be masked in normal driving, yet overheating and warping of the front rotors will result.

What is involved in adjusting the wheel bearing play? How hard a job.

I believe there is a special gauge for it. But the general rule of thumb is to allow the rotor to spin freely and not move inward or outward on the axle.
