722.6 Trans Compatability?
 

Will a 722.6 from a 98 E320 gasser work in my 98 E300 Turbodiesel? Thanks.

from what i can see they may phsically interchange, but are very different internally, the torque converters are also two different part numbers, your diesel is a 722.608 and the other one is a 722.607, since the donor is a V6, that also poses a problem, if it were a 6cyl it may have worked. you need a 722.608 also known as a (W 5 A 330) there are alot of cars that use this transmission so you will likely find one easily. if you look at some, the number 722.608 should be on the id plate on the drivers side case of the transmission near the pan, look at your own to familiarize yourself with it's location, you will likely see it there, let us know what happens, if you do find a good one besure to get the torque converter and flush the trans cooler lines before you install it.

Thank you for your help! The guy said it came out of a 98 E320.. you're saying it came from an E420?

according to the vin you gave me it has a 112.941 should have read v-6
