1990 190E 2.6 air box

First time posting. Have read through lots of archives and haven't found what I need. Both rubber mounts on the intake manifold have broken free. Appears as they were glued or epoxied to the manifold. Both flanges on the air box are broken. The only attachment I have is the right side of the box. Should I buy replacement rubber mounts and fashion a mount that bolts to the box and the factory style mounts or, can I drill and tap into the area where the oem mounts go and use an L strap.........any ideas?

The mounts can be found here:

for instance, and a replacement air cleaner housing from a junkyard would work better than a repair.

Thanks Steve, I agree on a replacement air box. Went to one of two locations that are close enough for me today and the box they had was worse than mine and broke in the same places! Hope its not a trend. Will try the other location tomorrow. The mounts pictured have a stud or air tube protruding thru both sides. Do I remove that and epoxy mount to intake manifold or drill and tap?

I think you'll find the old ones are studs too. In our M102 they screw in - you should be able to screw yours out too. Try visegrips to grab hold.

The rear mount is gone. There is residue of some bonding agent and no hole where that mount used to be. The front mount is still attached to the airbox but not to the engine! It twisted freely when I tried to remove it. I don't think that is a good design so I will have to drill and tap. I know I'm not getting a good seal, airbox to airflow sensor. Thanks for the replies.
