Fuel issue for 190E 16V
I have a 87 190E 16V and I’m having some fuel problem that my mechanic and I could not figure out. Long story short, I swapped a brand new 16V engine last month and when I floor the gas paddle, I can feel the car surge between 2000 to 3000 rpm. After 3000rpm, it seems fine and I have no problem to go up to redline. It happens in every gear regardless the engine is cold or warm. In order to solve the problem, I replaced the fuel pumps, fuel pump relay, etc. I also took off the fuel distributor and EHA valve from my old engine and swapped it. It seems a bit better but I can still feel the surge. It really drives me crazy since we have tried to replace every fuel related parts and we still can’t correct the problem.
Also, my car would like to accelerate by itself for a few seconds even though my foot is completely off the gas paddle. It seems pretty dangerous cause I’m assuming the car decelerate when my foot is off the paddle but it actually doing the reverse. It happens regardless I’m in gear or in neutral. Another symptom is when I’m in neutral and I rev the engine up, it goes up smoothly but it takes forever to come back down to idle (i.e. 900rpm). Guys, I really have no idea when is going on and if anyone has the same problem before or know any tricks, please educate me. Thanks! |
My 88'190E 2.3 is acticting very similarly...have a thread ongoing. Will be interesting to see if our problems can be solved?
