How do I remove the dip stick to check the transmission fluid?

You reach down slightly from the top of the tube and pull the hinged lockdown
mechanism out and up. Once you see it out it will be obvious.

You need to be on a very level surface, engine running, at operating temperature, and use a clean, lint free rag.

but you may need to remove the red safety first.just break it and than u can remove the dipstick.dont try to remove it without breaking cause they always do.no need to install a new one,but if u do want to,they are cheap from mb

The purpose of the red safety tag is there so that customers dont check the fluid.MB make there trannies now lifetime fluid.Well sounds good but after 170,000 you can install a new transmission.IF you do normal tranny servise she will last a lot longer. When the fluid is replaced the filter and the torque converter should be drained and the filter replaced
