Hi Mike,
I have the same car. The wire harness is a known problem with this car. Has yours been replaced yet? I had a couple of weird lights (especially the check engine light) going off from bare wires touching each other. Have someone check the codes and see if it makes sense. If it doesn't make sense and you have an original wire harness, it may be time for a replacement. It's unfortunately pretty expensive (the part from MB is $740) plus the install.

Wire harness

I did try to read any codes and my unit said that the vehicle was not responding, This is the first time that I had this happen. Any help would be appreciated.

The only time I had a vehicle not responding eror was when the OVP relay went bad. OVP feeds the diagnostic module. Do a search on OVP - should be lots of stuff.

Solution

Thanks for the help. It was the Over voltage protection relay. Cured the brake warning lights and the non functional speedometer,

Mike
