1991 300E Diagnostics
 

Last Saturday I bought a 300E with 192,000 miles on it. (Last Sunday I discovered this site and have logged about 20 hours since reading all the posts. It's better than video games and competes at times with my girlfriend.)

The main issues are that the heating/cooling blower is out and the Check Engine light is on. I've read through the threads about checking/replacing the blower/control unit which was a big help. I'm sure I can handle that now by myself. Thanks to all.

I could use a little information on checking the blink codes. I found the schematics for the LED/button circuit for triggering the codes and can make one up, no problem. I have a California model with the 16 pin connector by the battery with the button and LED in it. Could anyone please tell me the various systems I can check at that connector and how I hook up the trigger for them? Also, which system or systems does the built in LED and button check? I already found the blink codes for that in one of the threads and will try it today.
