In my '91 300TE 4M the moon roof switch operates in four-ways. Push up on the aft part and the rear of the roof pops up. Pull down on the aft part and the popped up roof is lowered. Slide the switch rearward and the moon roof slides back (open). Slide the switch forward and the roof is closed.
Recently all functions work except pulling down on the aft part of the switch to close the pop-up.
Is this the switch, or has something gone out of adjustment that prevents the switch from working properly? Are there some simple tests to perform to determine the fault?
Thanks!

Arnold, I m not sure if this information will help but on my 98 E I had a the same problem. The service tech put the roof all the way through the open function while the roof was not responding to the down function. I was told that this re set the switch. Sounds strange to me but it worked.I don t know if the switches are the same in your vehicle. Good Luck, Mark

The '98's (and on) have a "computer" controlled switch that is reprogrammed as indicated by Mark. I would suspect you have a switch problem. Ed

There is a big difference between the sun (or moon) roofs of a W124 and a W210. The older W124's have the motor for the roof in the trunk and the newer W210's have the motor above the courtesy lights.

Hazen,
As Ed already told: it is probably the switch and this can easily be checked by using another switch (if you know a relative or anyone with a same car and sunroof).
There is a possibility to fine tune the sunroof's motor in the trunk of a W124, but I don't think it will help you.
Try another switch...

Hazen, maybe we can swop out your switch with mine some time, as Mbenz suggests. I think the 90 and 91 should be the same.

Hey!
Thanks for the advice, guys. I truly appreciate your experience. It sure can save a lot of time and headache.

Steve - who is everywhere! -
I am honored that you would allow a temporary transplant of Emmas innards. If you've followed Marshall's posts I hold little hope that the problem is indeed the switch....
However, the proof of the puddin' is in the tastin', so maybe we can arrange another Tully's meeting or a spot of your choosing. Sunday am's are good for me or Saturday mid-afternoons!
Thanks again for your kind offer - I'll consult "our" Index and see how the switch is extricated and let you know!
Best,
Hazen
