stalling

mornin,
I have an '88 300TE at any speed stall but starts right up. changed ovp fuses changed fuel pump relay with a spare I had . now won't start at all but cranks well. put in old fuel pump relay started right up. I expect the stalling to continue. could it be the spare relay is bad? or when I disconnected the battery does the computer reset? before I but another relay just wonderin if anyone had any thoughts.
thanks
john

hello norman25 ,
I have the same thing on my 260E 1988.

I changed a lot of parts including OVP relay, cleaned tank, filters etc and default not yet solved.

A lot of possible causes are described in many threads.

Let us know.

Although we haven't had a problem with our fuel pump relay, I have some experience with the OVP relay. A new one I bought went bad within 2 weeks. so I disassembled it. Poor assembly procedures at Bosch are the guilty party. Resoldering the bad contacts have allowed it to continue working for the past 3 years, so far. I 'reconditioned' the old relay, which suffered from the same problem, and it resides in the spares kit.

I don't know it the pump relay has similar problems, but if it comes apart, that is what I would do before thowing more money at a problematic part.

thank for responding guys, but what I find oddest is that the ovp is that same one but when I switched back to the old fuel relay the car purrs perfectly. hate to toss parts at it but maybe its just a bad fuel relay.
