My sunroof will popup a crack and down not even and you cah hear the motor but it won't drop down and slide back. Any suggestions Its an 95 E420

Could be the lifting angles, could be the sunroof cable. You won't really be able to tell unless you can get the headliner off. Unfortunately this requires being able to slide back the sunroof part way into the roof. You might try gently helping it down and back with your hand while actuating the switch, but obviously you don't want to jam anything that isn't already jammed.

When it comes to that type of sunroof, we tell customers at our shop to be prepared to spend up to 800-1000$ You cannot make a complete diagnosis as to what needs to be replaced without diassembly. Once diassembled they usually cannot be put back together without new parts. So the moral of the story is don't monkey with it unless you are prepared to spend money to fix it.
