Door stuck shut-now what?
Weird thing on 88 190E....the rear passenger door won't open. Locking plunger works fine, so does handle ( inside and out) but will not open door. How can it be fixed, if it will not open to check it out? Suggestions PLEASE!!!

It sounds like you have a latch that has gone bad. Don't know of any specific procedure to deal with this. If I had to try anything I would have someone pull the door handle while I laid in the back seat and kicked the door in the area of the latch. There is a chance that this could force a latch that was close to opening. Of course you'd want to take steps to prevent damge to the door panel and be prepared to repair it once opened. Keep us posted I love to hear how this one turns out.

Someone on this forum suggested removing the ash tray from the door and reaching inside to release the latch. I've never tried.

Door won't open? 88 190E
Thanks to the 2 of you for replying. I think I will have to do more investigating before trying to force it open just in case it will not re-close. There is also no ashtray in the door of this model, thanks for the suggestion, hopefully? others may come along shortly. (thank the lord it is not the drivers door) !!
