How Do I remove wood on shifter panel 420sel?

I have been contemplating on how I can remove the wood on the shift lever console. It seems so difficult. Its a 420sel with Zebrano wood.

My 560sel has Burlwood trim and the removal of the wood shifter piece is so very easy.

I think the 420 has a series of clips?? I am afraid that If I do it wrong then I will break the clips

Pop the piece of trim up around the shifter
Remove the ashtray and spring
Loosen the screw that's angled down and remove ashtray faceplace
Remove two screws under ashtray pointing towards the rear of the car.
That's it i think.
