Need flex disc help.
 

The front flex disc on my 1995 e320 is shredded, I've dropped the cross member. How do I replace the flex disc from here?

Ok this is for a W126 so take it with a grain of salt, although it should be similer on a W124.
Unbolt the driveshaft from the flex disc and push it back a bit. Then unbolt the flex disc from trans. The flex disc should drop right out after that. They stick sometimes and may need a whack to help it along.

Just repeat the process to install. MB gives a torque spec but I just made mine tight since I didn't have a torque wrench handy.

I just did this twice on my 300ce (1988).

This is the easiest way to do it without the frustration.

(1) If you can acquire some 8-12" drive on ramps, drive front of car up. I prefer to use four (4) Jackstands

(2) Chock right rear wheel with suitable stopping device...remember the engine will be in neutral and the drive shaft will be disconnected

(3) Insert standard Jack on left rear of vehicle to jack the wheel high enough off of the ground to rotate the wheel and driveshaft assy. approx. 1/2"

(4) You will need another scissor to support the rear of the transmission when you remove the bracket/ this also doubles as the rear engine mount for the 1988 300ce

(5) After you are comfortable that the car will not roll off of your ramps and crush you *MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE IS SECURELY CHOCKED*

(6) Release the parking brake and place trans in neutral.

(7) After you start systematically reving the bolts you will be able to rotate the tire to access the next bolt

(8) Replace everthing in opposite order

(9) Post picture of your mangled flex disc for us to view

yep, witihin a week of each other, the first one let loose and i bought an oem replacement from the local MB dealer, it lasted about 35 miles and then handgrenaded, MB replaced the unit as defective and now I have about three hundered miles on the replacement.

I also replaced motor mounts, trans mount, center bearing mount and rear flex disc....no no vibes at all......even ran it up to 'bout 130 on the long bridge on the way to the office this morning....smooth as butter as a benz should be :D

Not mentioned here-

You should loosen the driveshaft nut. Probably the earlier failures would be due to preloading the shaft axially.

Loosen the nut, remove the bolts and old joint, replace joint, tighten driveshaft nut.
