Hey all,

Just browsing through some posts on spark plug gap for 300E's and got an idea. Does anyone know of an upgraded or higher energy ignition for their 300E? Would an GM/Ford/Universal style upgrade coil like an ACCEL work to throw a better spark? Would such a coil disturb the computer controlled ignition on an early 300E? Let me know what you guys think.

The most practical upgrade for this car woul be the Jacobs, or Jacobson, whichever it is.

This would be a good modification.

Have a great day,

I updated with an OMNI Torquer with a set of 8.5mm cables from ************************ via their catalog for my 1991 300E2.6. I tried just the ignition module first but, it produce so much spark that the OEM wires kept coming off the plugs. The wires with tight silicone boots fixed the problem. The car fires right up, better than OEM and it burns fuel so efficiently that my mechanic was surprised. I produces only 6 PPM of unburned hydrocarbons; he said this was better than an off the showroom floor Cadilac. All I know is that performance is way up but. it does go through distributor caps every 20,000 miles. No problem with static in the radio.
