190E fuel-pump relay power-source?

Ok, got the headgasket replaced that was fried due to stuck thermostat. Car was running fine at that time. Now that it's back together, I have spark but no fuel... :(

Tried pulling the fuel-pump relay and jumping pins 87 to 30 and still no fuel. Measured pin-87 and it SHOULD have +12v power right? The wiring diagrams in my Chilton manual sucks, but I could at least make out that pin-87 should go to the alternator then to the +positive on the battery. There's no power on this pin with the key OFF or ON.

Any suggestions?

TIA -danno

I believe that 30 is the power source (hot in start or run), and 87 is the output to the fuel pump. If you jumped 30 and 87 with the ignition on and the pump still didn't work, then your pump is bad or you have a wiring problem.

If you've checked your fuses, and they are old but appear fine, I would recheck them. Old fuses often have hairline stress breaks almost invisible at a glance. When such a fuse is pulled out, though, it usually falls apart.
