'79 450SLC ignition wires
I've run a search on ignition wires, read the posts, and must confess complete confusion. I've seen that some like Bosch, others suggest that the new Bosch aren't equal to the old Bosch; some like Beru, others think they're junk.
A very simple question really: I'd like to begin replacing some of the 26 year old e-components of my toy. The existing distributor has a screw-type connection, the boots are old and should be replaced so I am inclined to replace the whole set. The ones that seem to be immediately available are Bosch, Beru, Kingsborne, or Karlyn - all priced in the $75-$125 range. I would welcome a recommendation. I also understand that the wire set has a resistor mounted in the cap - what is the recommended resistance and is there any way I can easily check that without risking damage to the wires/caps? Thanks very much. |

The OE wires are copper core & use BERU connectors at the plugs!
