my 87 300e has a broken sunroof. the cables are fine, the arms inside actuate. the only problem I see are these 1" plastic hinges are broken. how would I go about dissembling?
I'm not sure what I'm looking at so I cannot describe the problem that well. your comments and questions would be greatly appreciated! thanks, Adam |
To do any sunroof repairs the roof panel must be removed! The first part that must come out is the headliner. Not a DIYer in most cases. Many MB shops struggle with this repair. Try looking in the W124 chassis CD for work instructions.

I have a similar problem. Dealer quoted me close to 2 grand adn wanted a week to do it. I priced all the parts myself at close to $900. When I can save up I will let the dealer handle the headache of it all. It seems like very complicated and tedious work. Definitely not a weekend project.

I see that the US models get the same roof systems as we have! The plastic parts in these sunroofs break a lot.
Adam, the W124 sunroofs are difficult to (dis)assemble... The sunroofs in the later W202 and W210 are a lot easier to work on; the electrical versions in the W124 and later W201 are terrible; I would not try to repair them myself if I did not know exactly what to do... greetingz, |
