Dead rear sun screen!

Hi there. I'm new to this forum, so forgive me if this topic has already been addressed in here somewhere. I have a '98 E320. My motorized rear window sun screen has suddenly stopped working, leaving the screen in the up position. I'm guessing that the drive motor has died, and would like to know where it is and how to get to it. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers. Brian

I can't remember if I've done this on a 210 before but if its the same a s a 220 or 203 its not too hard.

Remove the rear seat, the c-pillar trim panels and three 10mm nuts in the trunk on the underside of the hat shelf. should just lift up and slide out after all that.

Thanks!

This gives me a starting point. I saw the metal tray w/the nuts that you refer to, while looking around in the trunk today, so can visualize from there what needs to be done. Any trickiness regarding the C-pillar trim? Fasteners that i need to avoid breaking off and such? Thanks again!

if you run into any problems let me know, i can email information from the service manual to you. i have repaired the shades before, there is a pin that comes out of the gear drive that prevents the unit from working

again, not 100% sure, but they either pull forward or pull out toward the center of the car. you can pry up a corner and peek behind to figure out whats holding it in.
