2000 E320 - Express Window Function failure

I recently bought a 2000 E320 and had to replace the battery over the weekend. I'm just learning the different functions of this car - it's a lot different than my 86 190 16V and other cars like my wife's Volvo S60. I read the manual and reset all the functions that needed to be reset such as the head restraint, ESP, radio and the "Express" feature of the power windows up/down. When I tried it, it does not work. If I click the button past the resistance point, as soon as I release the window stops moving. This is true for all 4 windows both direction. Is there any trick to this function? Is it malfunctioning? What do I have to check to correct? Is there a fuse that controls only this function and not the entire up/down operation? If I push the button before the resistance point, the windows go up/down as they should.

Any help is much appreciated.

you want to hold the switches in the first detent individually until the window is up, after the window is up continue to hold for an additional 2-4 seconds, you may hear a click in the door. do this to all windows from the front switches. they should then operate

Thanks. Carson. I tried it just like you suggested. It worked. I guess I was pushing down too hard on the buttons (past the resistance point) and holding it incorrectly for 2-4 seconds. Thanks again. Great help. This forum is awesome. Very helpful members.

I think the procedure was needed for the window to "relearn" the up and down positions.
