W140 92 500Sel Wipers only high speed working
 

Hello,
My windshield wipers will only work at top speed. The first two levels on the stalk will not work. Any ideas?

A long time ago had the same problem on my 300TD (S123). The problem was fixed by changing the multipurpose turn signal stalk that also control the wipers.

It appears that the contact on the turning switch will degrade and not engage on intermitent or slow (the speeds most often selected).

Now, being a W140, my opinion might be just one of a thousand and five options that could be happening.

Thanks for the information. The bad part about the problem is the fact that after a couple of cycles on the high speed, the wipers stop in mid cycle. I will have to see if I can get some contact cleaner down in there.
