Hello,
I was wondering if the motor mounts on a 190E are fluid
filled????

longston 02-15-2001 09:35 PM

In Lieu Of A Better Informed Answer...

Uh, NO!

I have never seen a fluid filled motor mount, or any kind of hydraulically damped motor mounting system, but having just said that, there are small shocks that are part of the system that might be causing you to ask this question.

What specifically, is the problem, or root of this question?

Yes, the 201 cars were the first Mercedes to use this technology. All the following cars 124s, 140s, 202s, 210s, etc. use that same type of dampening. The earlier cars had separate engine shocks that added parts and assembly complication. These mounts start to fail around 80 to 90K. The symptoms are feeling engine vibration in the seat or steering wheel. A new set goes a long way to restoring that new car feel.

Thanks for replying, all of you. I had heard about
fluid filled motor mounts on Mercedes, just didn't know
when they started putting them in. Now, you got me
wondering if the transmission mount is also fluid filled???

Scott,
No problem. Just wondering, probably going to change
them as preventive maint. :):)

Wow, That's Why We're All Here...

Never too old to learn something new. Outstanding! I have never heard of a fluid filled motor mount before!

Thanks, Rocket!

There are even fluid-filled motor mounts out there whose fluid is altered viscosity-wise by adding an electrical charge! I think that's a Honda trick.

As to the tranny mounts, I know W124s use solid rubber mounts, if that helps.

Gary,

"We should have a forum on secret MBZ tips and tricks."

HEY! That's a GREAT IDEA! Maybe we could call it something really catchy so the name would convey the idea that the members were not only people who own these cars, but that they like to work on them too!

I've got it! we could call it "MercedesShop"! ;)

We could even have a segment called, "Ask Dr. Parts" :D

Oh, and here, that'd be Gee-Dubya The Bush - Buckaroo...

glmoy 02-16-2001 06:57 PM

We could also call it Dr. Parts Secret tips and Tricks.
Waddya say members? ;)
