I Need Help?

I have a 1985 mercedes benz 500sel. The problem
is that when i start the car, the idle rough and the economy bar is almost halfway, but the rpm is normal.

Does it run and idle right when warmed up/and how's the economy gage when warmed up?

hollow6669 12-11-2005 09:09 PM

the rpms are fine the economy bar is in the middle

A264172 12-11-2005 10:26 PM

ok rpm's are fine warmed up and cold.
so...
when the car is fully warmed (80° C and higher)... and the car is at idle
the economy gage is in the:
1) upper middle
2) lower middle or
3) right in the middle

???

also...

How does it drive?
Good power and acceleration up hills?

also...

Is this condition all the time? or is it part of the time?

hollow6669 12-12-2005 11:52 AM

it is Number 2 and it doesn't shift up hills and this is all the time

I think you may have a vacuum leak.

Best to test for by: pulling and re attaching lines to see if it runs better...

Do suspect the warm-up regulator:

pull the lines to it first to see if condition improves...

For further assistance try to describe (as accurately as you can) how the car performs under all operating conditions

...as this stuff is hard to diagnose over the net...

I will check all the hoses and then if that does not work i will address the problem in more detail

Thanks Hollow
