loosing power steering and panel lights come on while driving and starting
 

have a 1990 300D 2.5 turbo with 192K. after glow plug light goes out after start, remainder of panel lights stay illuminated. Power steering goes out initially and then after a few minutes of idle. Panel lights dim and power steering comes back. What is the problem? Please help? thanks

Just a wild guess.
How is your fanbelt ( tension )?

I expect that Manny is right on the money on this one. The belt is either oily or there is a tension problem.

many thanks guys. i will check that asap. just spent 5K on my husbands 1998 300D. They couldn't get the glow plugs out. Had to change the head.
