Is that a euro car?

The manual you are looking for (I think) is 126's and will cover the 117 (500 engine of that era) as well as the chassis features of 126's through the years...

Didn't think there was an 83 500 126 in the US.

...

If you could post some pictures of the switches (If you don't have a camera you might look on ebay... for something similar and provide a link to it) I'm sure someone could identify them for you.

If you provide your local Mercedes-Benz service station with your chassis number (WDB126... ....) they should be able to provide with an exact date of manufacture, free of charge. It usually will take them three to four days while the factory answers them back.

Being in Australia and if your car is left-hand drive (which it should be) you have few options on the car pedigree: either it was manufactured directly for the Australian/New Zealander makerts, or the Japanase/Hong Kong markets. Distant chance would be it was manufactured for the English or South African markets.

83 was a good year for W126s, just be sure to have your timming chain inspected.

You can input you VIN (the WDB126...... number) into the VIN decoder on the MB Russia Club site which will give you all the data for your car, including build date, engine no., options etc.

I think A Rosich meant to say Right hand drive, but it may be an import from Hong Kong - there are a few getting around - I have one.

Where in Oz are you? There are lots of resources around. PM me if you want some help.

Cheers
