It's not hard to replace voltage regulator, right?
Is it? Car 92 500sel. Charge light came on few times now its on all the time. Voltage is low. No charge from alternator. Is it hard to replace voltage regulator? I changed one on 90 300E it was easy. What about 500sel? It's cold in NY now so I need to know if it's simple and quick Ill do it on the street if not go to a shop.
Thank you |
Bosch alternators have been essentially the same for a very long time.

mine took me 30 mim... and half of that was spend either staring at it, or wandering how the heck I can get my hands at it...
I am 15, and I have a 114/115 with the bosch Alternator ~Nate |
It might be a little tricky to get at while the alternator is in the car, but with it out, it's very easy. Look underneath first.

On teh M103 motor (190e) I had to be real careful not to strip the screw heads. You need a lot of torque to get those screws out and if you strip the screws.....well you're screwed.

Victor, jacking up the car will be the most difficult and time-consuming part of the job unless you have ramps. Two allen head bolts hold the voltage regulator in place. The brushes are probably worn to the point where they're not making good contact.

Thanks for replies guys
Someone stole my ramps:mad: so Ill buy new ramps and will change V.Regulator myself. Its 30degrees in NY now so I have to make it quick.
Thank you Victor |
