Have a coolant level light that stays on in a 96 C220.The coolant level is fine and and the switch in the resevoir is working properly. No continuity in the plug to the switch.I suspect the problem to be at the at the instrument cluster.Does this cluster come out the same as older models or does any one have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance...

The cluster does pull out just like the older ones.

I would make SURE that the light doesn't go out when you unplug the sensor.

I have replaced countless numbers of the level sensor.

I had the same problem with my 98 C200 about a fortnight ago. The dealership replaced the instrument cluster and now it's fine. Is your cooling fan behaving strangely at all?

Thanks for responding. The light stays on with or without the sensor plugged in and also after installing a new sensor. I also checked for continuity in the plug and there is none. I will pull the cluster and check on that end. Hopefully the cluster won't need replacing. Has there been any problems with the clusters on the C class models?
