I have a few spots where the vinyl is peeling off the edges of the interior door panel(s)on my 88 300TE (top edge of rear door @ window & top edge of drivers door storage pocket). Is this a common problem and what would be the best adhesive & procedure to use for the repair? Will the panel have to come off to do a proper job?
Thanks in advance for your advice. |

I had some of my interior paneling slipping away fromt he seat belt holders. I used some epoxy glue, and that thing has stayed where I glued it since.
I only had to stretch the fabric about a centimeter to cover what it was not covering anymore. Has worked great for the last 4 months. The reason I used the epoxy is because it dries very hard, and can be adjusted for at least a few minutes until it really starts to stick good. Now I'm not sure what others would say about my use of it, but I figured no harm done as it works for me. Alon

This is a very common problem for the W124 (especially with blue interiors). The door panels have to be taken off (for the mentioned problem near the windows) to make a repair attempt possible. The vinyl has to be stretched a bit whilst sticking it to the panel again. Mostly the vinyl shrunk too much and repairs do not look very good; however: it is worth a try... The vinyl on the center pillar-panels is not as short cut as the vinyl on the door panels and repairing them is therefore a lot easier. greetingz,

Ed C.Not hard to remove panel.Study C>D>our books. There is a tool to pop the fastners that do most of the holding. You should use something our you may breake some of the clips out of the door. You can get a couple of putty knives or something like them.put one on each side of the clip and give a little twist. That will pop the clip without tearing it out of the panel. The rest just look over the panel take your time. You may find some peices of plastic that have to be removed to get to a screw.Dont force anything.Good luck Michael.P.S.Please forgive my spelling. The spell check does not work for me on this site
