Sunroof Squeak

I recently clayed and waxed entire vehicle ('90 300E w/190K mi.) and now when I open the sunroof in "Tilt up " fashion, I get an unpleasant, relatively deep, squeaking sound - like rubber on metal.

I have tried silicone spray on the sunroof gasket and front edge of sunroof - to no avail.

Sound appears to be coming from front of sunroof.

Anyone experienced this sort of thing before?

All suggestions welcome.

I had the same problem a few months back on my C-class.
I used 303 Protectant, with the sunroof closed I dripped 303 along the slight indent the seal makes with the steel roof, and rubbed 303 on the verticle rubber baffles on the sides up front when the roof is tilted up. Opened and closed the sunroof once and noise was gone.

Does anyone know if this "303" can be purchased anywhere besides the internet? Perhaps at a local parts store? I have been able to find it NOWHERE.

Thanks

I buy 303 Protectant at a local boat store. They recommend using it on fiberglass hulls. As the salesman told me "A little goes a long way". Use a detailing sponge to apply it to tires ... leaves a matte finish and protects tires from UV damage.

I went to their website last night and did a search from there to locate this product in my area. Ironically, it is available at a local boat shop only one mile east of my home. Go figure. That way is toward the lake/river and a short cut to the northbound freeway, but I usually go the other way into town, so I had forgot about that boat shop.

Thanks

303 Protectant

WOW!

Did exactly as you suggested, Ethan - and magically, instantly, noise gone.

This 303 is good stuff!

Traeing dash now as well.

Thx very much for the advice.

Kermit
