Starter Woes...

Hello everyone. I am having a starter problem that has gone terminal, no pun intended. Up until recently my '91 300SE has started, sometimes after several tries. The solenoid would kick a little, even turning the engine over a little but mostly do much of nothing leaving the starter motor turning as long as the key was held. After a few tries everything would "line up right" and I got the car started. The solenoid was replaced with no fix the the problem and now it doesn't even do anything, no starter spin either. With help I checked and there is no fire on the wire at the small terminal on the solenoid when attempting to start the car. I have researched starter problems here over the last couple of months and haven't found the cure. My question is this, is there a starter relay of some type other than the solenoid, if so where is it located, and could there be anything else that could cause the starter not to engage. Also if anyone could send a wiring diagram to my e-mail I would appreciate it as well. Thanks in advance. brucebeveridge@yahoo.com

BTW, still love this car, best I've ever owned, just rolled 249,000 miles, front end just finished rebuild but going to change centerlink (hope thats what's causing the itty bitty shimmy still left), tackle the oil leak next

Bruce,

Here is the link to the wiring diagram. You can download it, but it's difficult to read unless you are online with it.
