300 e wanders at cruise

how come when i am cruising at 60 mph when i let of the gas or press on it my car wanders for a second or so. aligment was just done. Feels like the geometry in the steering wheel changes or something.

djtalon, the corrilation between the cruise and wander may not be related.
Provided you have a correct 4 wheel thrust wheel alignment and all was well; there is one little very inexpensive critter that always is at the cause of wanderring.

I might suggest that you have someone look at the rear suspension links etc., preferably someone familiar with this setup. You may have a bad bushing in one or more of the links causing the rear alignment to change when you change the loading on the driveline.

I agree with D Haner the wander could be a bad bushing in one of the links or it may need the subframe mounts replaced. These links are common replacement items.

This is a familiar topic with 300Es and worthy of a thoughtful search on this forum. I believe you might find some comments under a thread entitled "Floating 300E" from late last year. Under sudden acceleration or deceleration, the rear suspension geometry can change enough to make it feel as if the rear end is steering the car. Mercedes has changed the original thrust arms to heavier pieces.

The part referred to above is a very likely culprit. I also agree with the comment about rear subframe mounts (along with differential mounts).
