Bad to tow !

My car shut down on me this week one day. I hooked a strap to my 87 300SDL and pulled it about 2 miles at 20-30 MPH home. The alternator had frozen up. Now new alternator later ,she cranks and runs fine , fowards and reverse work ,pulled out to test drive it will not shift out of low gear. What have I done to my Benz?

Exclamation

Towing a MB on the rear wheels WILL damage the trans!

Most likely the governor gear drive pin has sheared & possibly damage to the rear pump as well.....
