Hi all, Just wanted to update you on what has happened with my recent posts about my fathers car, my brohters car, and my lug bolt issue.

1. My fathers car.

Took it to my independent, Tranny is out and being fixed for way less than the dealer wanted. Front pump and main seal are being fixed, tranny doesn't need rebuild, and doesn't need a new torque converter.

Since the car was re diagnosed by an independent over the "we will only replace things" dealership, the car is being fixed.

2. My brothers 85 380SL Clicking noise update.

Turns out the Roller Rockers were worn completely and were replaced. The starter motor was also bad and replaced.

Car is fixed and all set.

3. My frozen lug bolts

Got an impact wrench 1/2 drive socket, put it on the new reversable torque wrench, tightened the torque setting to 81 ft lbs. and that lug came off with minor effort.

No tire shop or pep boys shop I went to today would even attempt it. They did not want liability if the lug broke leaving the bolt in the disc with no way of getting it out. I understand, but when I tell them I will sign a waiver, they still wouldn't do it, so I had to go by the old saying "If you want it done, Do it YourSelf!!"

So all in all everything worked out, and I didn't have to take any action or get aggrivated at all.

I called my independent today and asked about the spring installation, which I made an attempt at today and figured out that it was just beyond my capabilities to do it without the right tools and equipment. He quoted me $160 to do the springs. I'm taking it in to him on tuesday.

While I had the wheels off, I noticed its definately time for new brake pads, and possibly discs. I'll see what my independent says when me measure the discs as to whther I need to change the discs too.

So now I'm a happy Camper,

Alon

ALON, that's all good! I ordered a two parts and they came today. The thermostat is Ok, I think, I am going to let my mechanic deal with that. But the wiper relay is the wrong one!! AGHH!!
Well when are we going to get together??

we should do it when we can guarantee it will be sunny. I'm thinking sometime at the end of feb, beginning of march would work out well. The rain we've had just plain sucks, cause the car can't be washed until it stops. hehe

I also want to have my springs and new brake pads/(maybe discs too) in the car.

I'm getting the springs done next week on tuesday.

I'll see if my company will pay for the brakes as I use the car for work, and the company said it would pay for repairs.

Of course it still technically comes out of my pocket because I am one of the owners... hehe

Plus with the savings I will get when buying the parts from fastlane, and doing the brakes myself (done brakes on all my cars I've owned, and some of my family's cars too), it should be only parts, and should not be too expensive at all to do.

hehe oh and my personalized plates came in last week so they are on the car. You will love em when ya see em.

Alon

HOTT There are two relays described in the fast lane. You need the one that is for the blinkers and wiper.

I'm glad things worked out ASH.

Benzmac and Ashman

Thanks Benzmac, yeah, Bill and I are getting it all figured out now anyway. My relay is somewhere areound 130$$!!! Not the 40 whatever! But I think I got my old one working...? I'm just fiddling a little with it, I put it back in, but I didn't put it in real hard, just set it in it's slot and pushed a little, and it seems to be working now. Probably only a temp fix though... And what does Benzmac mean?

Ashman, yes sounds good. Weekday might be better for me, but doesn't really matter I guess. Whatever is easier for you. I do'nt really care about the rain, I still wash it once a week, unless it's raining that day! Still to keep it looking somewhat nice! I too have to have my new thermostat and 2nd O2 sensor put in, get that damn check engine light off! What does Ashman mean anyway??

Hot,
My Last Name is Asherson, so AshMan, kind of part of my last name. Also My bro had it as his personalized plate on his 85 190e, and I always liked the name.

Most of my friends call me Ash or Londo.

OK cool. Oh yes, what does your personalized license plate say?
I was thinking of doing one... ***** perhabs? Hehehe, I'm just kidding. But there is this S500 I see all over town that has NWPT BCH on her license plate, I would LOVE THAT. Maybe NPRT BCH? I really want to get one... How about my initials... DRF ?? Any ideas? Maybe I'll go check out that one post about personalized plates...
BTW ALON, did you see my pics?

you know I can't remember if I did see the pics or not.

My custom plate reads CPUHELP

Which is perfect because I own a computer and internet business that does pc repair and sales and websites and all that good stuff. We do so much I have no clue what we do anymore, I just know its a lot of stuff. hehe
