I posted a question yesterday concerning a leaky sunroof drain and how to remove the headliner to get at the source. It was ignored. Judging from some of the problems I see posted I doubt that it had everyone stumped, so what's the deal? Is my problem too trivial to waste time answering? Or does one have to be a "member of the club" to get help? I've always enjoyed this forum and have gained a lot of information from it, but having my question ignored makes me think that perhaps I should look elsewhere.

Don't worry about that. This happens sometimes. I post questions on here all the time and sometimes some of them even overlooked. The people on here are the best you'll find anywhere regarding your car. They take their personal time out of their lives to answer all of these questions. I'm sure that it's nothing personal. Simply repost the question so it appears again; I'm sure it will then get answered. Good luck.

Speaking for myself, I don't do that kind of work. It would be handled by our body shop, sublet to a glass shop or an upholstery shop. We gave up on sunroof repairs years ago. Got a glass shop down the street that loves the work and charges me less than I would have to pay one of my techs alone.

Don't take things so personally! The people here volunteer time from their busy lives for the common good of the MB community.
This site offers professional advice to anyone for free. It has only been one day, try patiently reposting, etc., not everything has an instantaneous solution. Sorry, this does not answer your question, but I have no idea myself. |

There are 8 new members each day - Lots more postings than even a couple of months ago! Your post can make it to the bottom of the page or be pushed onto the next page in no time. Also, did you try a search? I believe a lot of the questions being asked by new members may have already been answered or discussed in the past. Try the words "300D headliner". I did, and came up with 11 topics. I only looked at thread #11 ( Sunroof will not close completely ) and found instructions on how to remove the headliner from a '78 300D. If the answer isn't in these, try again with different key words.
The experts on the site are busy folks - lets use the library they built first before we overload them with questions. Just a suggestion. Hope you find an answer.

Lighten Up! This isn't your local dealership where you pay big bucks to get answers. Everyone who participates here does so for FREE! Your post was read 25 times.
If you had done a search you'd have learned that sun roofs are not a typical DIY job. That means that maybe a dozen or so are qualified to even venture a guess. Believe it or not, those techs are out earning a living during the day. If you need, no, DEMAND immediate answers, get in your car, drive to Dallas and PAY someone. Otherwise, be patient. Sometimes it takes a couple of days to get a question answered.

Experts, Schmexperts...
Rod,
I agree with all of the advice given to you, with one small exception, the experts aren't the only ones who are busy! The rest of us do have lives too! Note to new members: Give it time, use the archives, don't think that just because 15 billion people have viewed your thread and no one has responded, that anyone is trying to ignore you!!! We're all trying to learn here, and we all belong to the Sacred Order Of The Sons Of Oh-Damn. We love to look at something just out pure of curiosity... Oh, and some times are "peak" and busier, and others aren't! For instance, posting on a Friday night may not get you a response until Tuesday, or Wednesday...:p

Have had that problem before. I wish I could answer your question but, have heard that the sunroof problems are very difficult even, for a advanced DIY. Even mechanics don't like touching these things I heard. You might want to take it in. That is my only advice.
