LIGHT OUT light

hey i have an 85 w124 and the light in the consol which tells u if there is a light bulb burnt out is constantly lit when i have the daytime lights on or the headlights...when i switch them off it goes off..i tried replacing all the bulbs that go on when the switch is set on but still the "burnt light" light goes on...it might be a bad ground in my rear right tailight due to a recent accident but i had an electrician check it out and put a ground from the case to the body so all lights work fine, but other than that i duno what else could be wrong..any help anyone?

did you check the license plate lamps? they are also on the circuit and are often over looked.

ya ive checked those too and the rear day lights and the front daylights and all the interior lights as well..still the light only goes on when the switch is turned on...if a light outside of that circuit goes out,for example a brake light or a signal light..the "light out" light will function normally....could there be a problem with my rear tailight...the one where the electrician grounded to the body instead of running it to through the wires up to the board/computer??:(

You may have a wrong bulb in somewhere. It might be drawing too much or too little current. Check the bulb numbers to see if they are what is called for in the owners manual. Jerry

System likes German bulbs best.

Likes, for example, left taillight and right taillight to have same bulb.

light out light problems

the light out warning system measures voltage and current of each leg--and if you have a flaky connection or different bulb --TILT. See my new topic on electrical connection fix for the magic answer to poor connections

:D i replaced the rear daytime lights with 10w german bulbs and all other lights in the rear with 25w bulbs and the light went out after restarting the engine...i guess that was the problem

As someone said - be sure to check the license plate lamps. Also check the brake lights when the pedal is depressed. Don't forget the third stop lamp - if your's is equiped with one.
