Just getting Started. Buy a Manual? Which one?

I just purchased a used 1982 MB 300SD Turbo Diesel and I'd like to start getting more familiar with it. I have some car maintenance experience, but quite frankly, i'm pretty much a newb. Aside from browsing here, I suspect I should get a good shop manual. Haynes or Chilton's? Or are neither all that helpful? Amazon customers give both of those pretty mediocre reviews. I did notice a MB Technical Companion too published by the staff of the STAR magazine and it seems that most amazon customers thought it was pretty useful. Below are some links. Any suggestions on where to get started and is there a particular shop manual best suited for the '82 300SD Turbo?

Whichever you buy, just buy a manual and a membership to AAA... you'll need it with the amount of "maintainance" these cars need..... You can easily tell by how busy this boards is....
