1972 250 Water Temperature Gauge not working

As the title says, the gauge is not working. I'm assuming it's due to a problem with the sensor or the cable that connects the sensor to the gauge. The biggest problem I'm having is that I cannot figure out exactly how to get a part number so that I can order a new one.
The closest thing I've found is a 'genuine' mercedes part (MBZ005902), but that includes everything: sensor, capilary tube (whatever that is) and the gauge itself. And they want something like $500 dollars. Yikes.

Can someone help me with the part numbers for the sensor and cable individually? Or is it truly all one piece? In that case, I think I'll just drive with a non-funtional gauge.

Thanks,
Lyle
