Thanks Benzmac and MBenz!

You will recall that our C-220 was suffering from an agonizingly slow wiper motion.

Per your advice, I removed the small cover and the wiper arm. I then positioned the wiper in the vertical position and pulled the shaft to its extended position and lubricated it with a couple of drops of 3-in-1 oil and moved it up and down. Magic! All hesitation in the wiping action is gone.

I strongly recommend that everyone with the single wiper blade perform this simple procedure to prevent this problem from occurring. It makes driving in rain or snow or road spray more than a little dangerous.

Actually this should be done by any car repair shop that services these cars!

...you're welcome, I am glad it worked out...

MBENZ!

I tried to remove the wiper cover and I had no luck? I want to lubricate my wiper gearing pin or whatever that is. After about 10 minutes of constant operation, the wiper stops for a sec when going down on the drivers side.
Can you give me more detailed descriptions on how to remove the cover? Thanks.

If it's like the C220, you need to pry it off one side at a time. One each side there is a little tab that fits into a hole on the lower part of the wiper arm. I started to use a screwdriver and then thought the better of it because of the danger of scratches.

From the driver's side, I got my fingers on my right hand under the upper side of the cover and was able to pry it up enough to get the tab out of the hole. I then rotated it a bit to the left, did the same on the lower side ...

It basically snaps back on.

put your fingers under one (bottom) side of the cap and twist the cap away from the wiper arm whilst pulling it up. Then do the same with the other bottom side and rotate the complete cap upwards after which the cap can be pulled out of its top fixation...

good luck and greetingz,

Does these steps work on a W124 wiper's cap? I tried opening up the wiper cap, but failed.

Lim :)
