Angry idle goes nuts! when it warms up??

I've been working on a 1976 300d diesel for a week now, finally got it started and thought I was through. ( not) Now it runs great when it is cold but as it warms up the rpm just keeps going higher and higher. I tried lowering the idle with the adjustment on the side of the injector. Almost no effect? Also I found a oil plug on what I think is the goveno, at the back of the injector ,but can't see any oil in in? How much does it take and what kind. The book I have on the thing does'nt give you enough info to even change a tire ,let alone do some real work on it. Could really use some help with it !!
