how to manually reset Flexible Service System
Do any of u know how to "manually reset" the ASSYST service indicator light? My owner's manual doesn't say anything about it, but I heard that some MB manual does. I live in a far flung area, and we don't have access to an MB HHT over here. The blinking-beeping warning light is bugging me. Please help. P.S., do these manual resetting procedures the same for all MB models? Someone once told me that manually resetting the ASSYST "might" cause the car's computer to shut down or sumthin. Thanks.

Flexible Service System reset procedure
I have no idea what car you have but, on my 1998 E 430 the process is clearly explained on page-93.
Make sure your doors are closed. 1) Insert key into ignition and turn to position 2. 2) Within 4 seconds push button "0" and release.(this is the odometer reset button) 3) Within 10 seconds turn key to position 0. 4) Press and hold button "0" while turning the key back to position 2. Continue to hold button "0". 5) After approx 10 seconds a signal sounds and the display will show 10000 miles or 15000 km. Release the button. |
There are 4 different ways to reset FLEX service warnings. Bill described the most common one. What kind of car & model year?

Dear MB Doc,
My car is a 1999 A160 Avantgarde (A Class), can u tell me what the other 3 procedures are? My car does not have the "0" button, but it has 4 buttons with graphics on them-no letters nor numbers. Given that my manual does not mention manual resetting, is it safe to try any of the 4 manual reset procedures? Thanks. |
Had to research as we don't get the "A" class cars, follow the procedure as described by Webmaster!! The button to push is the trip odometer button.

Just one comment to poster. Try it several times. For some reason, it often does not work the very first time. Even though you are sure you followed the procedure correctly
