Gas fillup in my 89 260E
Here's the problem - many times I go to a gas station, and the pump stops after only a gallon or two has gone into my tank.
The attendant (this is in NJ - there is NO self serve in this state) rings me up unless I sream out that it is far from full. Usually, it takes another 2 titmes before my tank is full. My gas gauge is accurate. Is there something that needs repairing to make filling my tank less stressful? |
try telling the attendent not to fill as fast and see if there is a difference some stations have alittle better pressure and that will kick it off

In New Jersey its probably a drunken, impatient, inconsiderate sikh pumping gas, tell him to pump on slow setting. When in NJ I always get out of the car and keep an eye on them. They usually put it on full flow and walk away. Although it's not self serve I always walk over and handle the filling issues myself.

Tell the attendant to back the nozzle out an inch or two, and put the valve on the middle setting. If I don't do both of these steps on mine, it shuts off immediately.

Go to another pump and see what happens. usually there is something wrong with the pumping thing so try that next time
